My First Week in New York: Gypsy on Broadway (April 17, 2025)

MY FIRST WEEK IN NEW YORK

Although I have only been in New York for just a few days, I have been doing many, many wonderful things. Between lessons, concert preparations, and going around the City to see both new places and sights I have seen on previous visits, I am learning more and more every day, and I am happy to share some of my many wonderful experiences with you.

Gypsy on Broadway (April 17, 2025)

The performance of a Broadway play is something I always find exciting, and Gypsy with Audra McDonald was one of the most powerful and wonderful plays I have ever seen. What perhaps impressed me most was the fact that McDonald actually became her character, Mama Rose, and was so involved in what she was doing that she cried real tears and made the audience feel everything she was saying and singing.

I also liked the Majestic Theater itself, which was very beautiful, and there are no words to describe the performance. Everyone involved in the play was very intense and sincere, and the singing was wonderful.

Following the performance, we had dinner at Sardi’s, the legendary Broadway restaurant founded in 1921, where there are more than 1,000 caricatures of Broadway celebrities on the walls. It would be hard to express just how exciting the evening was for me!
