The Day After the Night Before—A Second Post About the Concert (May 10, 2025)
People sometimes ask me how I relax after a concert, and I have to tell them that not much changes from day to day. The routine of someone who wants to be a concert artist is fairly consistent, so the day after this concert was pretty much like any other, with just a few exceptions.
First, I slept a little later than I usually do because I was a bit tired. While eating a bagel I asked myself what I wanted to do before practice.
I decided my treat for the day was going to be a trip to Macy’s, and on my way there I went to Times Square.
Macy’s has wonderful old wooden escalators, so on my way to the 8th floor I decided not to use the elevator, but to just step back in time a little bit, while also giving myself a chance to see what is available on each floor.
I actually also found a new dress which was the perfect size, so I was very happy about that. I can’t wait to wear it!
Knowing that I had planned to meet Mr. Cosmo in late afternoon, I headed to the bus stop. On the way, I enjoyed a blueberry and peanut butter smoothie. Salty peanut butter and sweet blueberries! Something sweet and salty is attractive. Just like in life, music has both sweet and salty tastes! That's why music attracts people. And while salt is more beneficial to the body than sugar, perhaps it's the "salty events" that help people grow.
This was my fun for the day.
After arriving at Mr. Cosmo’s we had a long talk about the concert. I heard an interesting story about the relationship between Old St. Patrick's Church in Nolita, opera, and Mozart. I practiced "Norma Fantasy" and "Macbeth", which I plan to play at the concert on June 6. Since it was the day after the concert, I felt a little stiff, so I stretched and resumed practicing. I'm going to stretch a lot before going to bed.
For dinner, we had a huge amount of pasta made by my mother, which has become a tradition. I don't know how it turned out, but we had two different kinds! Wonderful.
