A Ticket to Hear Mitsuko Uchida! (April 22, 2025)
Today I chose to wear my cat dress and even cat socks. The weather was very sunny, and this particular outfit always makes me happy. Mr. Cosmo explained that he was going to be away all day, which meant that I would be able to practice on his piano the entire time, instead of using my keyboard.
On the way to his apartment I stopped by an Italian bakery which I had seen several times before. This is one of the reasons I like the fact that I have learned to ride the bus in New York, as it gives me an opportunity to see more of the City and explore neighborhoods. The bakery is called Rosetta Bakery, and the ladies there said that my dress had helped to make their morning wonderful.
After choosing a really delicious pistachio and raspberry tart, I ate it in the public space near The Juilliard School and the Metropolitan Opera, as I enjoyed the sun shining and the birds singing.
When I arrived at the apartment and started to practice, I only worked on Chopin the entire day. During that time my mother looked at the calendar for the New York Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall, and discovered that Mitsuko Uchida was performing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie. I have seen her in Tokyo in solo recitals many times, but I was really looking forward to this because it was a performance with orchestra.
After I picked up my ticket for Carnegie Hall I stopped by Faust Harrison Pianos, where I am going to give the concert Mr. Buono and Mr. Alexander have arranged for me. Mr. Alexander came there at around the same time by sheer coincidence, so we had a chance to talk about the space and my concert.
I left there and went back to my apartment, where I practiced some more.
A lovely day.
