A Rainy Day Devoted to Chopin (May 4, 2025)

Unfortunately it rained today, but I am now enjoying the fantastic night view. Although the tops of buildings of Times Square and the skyscrapers themselves are hidden by clouds and cannot be seen, the lights from the illuminations shine through, making the clouds look very colorful! And if my apartment was on a very high floor, I would gladly open the window and welcome the clouds!

As usual I am attaching a photo as proof that I practiced the piano properly today. Graziella and Tamino listened to me in the front row and they are my witnesses.

Today, when I was practicing Chopin's Sonata No. 3, I was able to find characteristics that reminded me of mazurkas.  I recently watched a program on Chopin which I found very helpful and when I was practicing Chopin's Sonata No. 3, I was able to find characteristics that helped me better understand them. Now that I realize that the word “mazurka” comes from language and the accent is on the second beat, I can also discover the hidden mazurka characteristics in Chopin's music!
