A Practice Session with Tamino (April 26, 2025)

It rained really heavily today in New York, but it seems to me that the harder it rains the shorter the amount of time it lasts.  For me this was good, because as I went to practice at Mr. Buono’s the torrents of water kept making all sorts of shallow ponds everywhere. Even so, the water makes the buildings and the trees in the park seem to shine, which is always very nice, and very beautiful.

I practiced a lot today, and during some of the time Tamino, one of Mr. Cosmo’s cats, crawled into my lap. It’s no secret that I love cats, so this was a wonderful interlude for me. In fact I was so delighted that I just picked him up and hugged him without letting him go for a while. (I’m sure such an enthusiastic response must have caught him by surprise, but I couldn’t help it.)

Today I played Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart while Mr. Cosmo listened from his office.  He told me that it was good that I made each composer sound different, which made me very happy, because that is part of the goal. There is a lot of drama in Beethoven and Mr. Cosmo said he could hear how I was bringing that out in my playing.
