Autumn in New York

As I get ready for my trip to New York there are, as you might imagine, any number of thoughts racing through my mind. First of all, being in New York in the fall is something that makes the city take on its own special kind of magic.  There is, in fact, a song by Vernon Duke written in 1934 entitled “Autumn in New York” with the following lyrics:

Autumn in New York
Why does it seem so inviting?
Autumn in New York
It spells the thrill of first-nighting.
Glittering crowds and shimmering clouds
In canyons of steel
They're making me feel
I'm home.

What is also exciting for me however is the fact that the concert season has started and with it comes all sorts of new ways to both listen and learn.
Here is a link with all of the pianists that are going to be performing at Carnegie Hall this season.

With these splendid artists come possibilities for me to contemplate my own Carnegie Hall debut next May, and to welcome the opportunity to return to New York this month for another concert this month. Truly, New York is becoming a place I love more and more, and with my next visit there being just days away, the season, the music, and a sense of purpose and mission for my own career are starting to make me feel each time I am there that in many ways I too, am coming home.
