A Few More Thoughts on the Tsuguharu Foujita Exhibition
From left to right: the view from the terrace of the Shin Marunouchi Building (sometimes called the ”Shin Maru Biru” for short); getting ready to be served; cherishing the sun on such a beautiful day; the view by night.
Following the Foujita exhibition which I discussed in my post on September 2, 2025, I found myself thinking that art feeds the soul, but so does architecture, just as food feeds the body. The eyes, the ears, and even the palate are messengers for the spirit to celebrate the world in which we live, and all of this came together for me on the day I went to see the exhibition.
There is a terrace on the seventh floor of the spectacular Shin Marunouchi Building that is very near to the museum, and I went there just to investigate. The terrace overlooks Tokyo station on one side and the Imperial Palace on the other. The combination of these two buildings and the wonderful weather that day was truly stunning.
While there I ate Basque cheesecake along with a non-alcoholic cocktail called Virgin Moni, made with white grapefruit and pomelo juices and tonic water which was absolutely delicious.
I was also very happy to be wearing a Karl Lagerfeld dress I bought in New York at Bloomingdale’s, along with a bubble necklace by Marina and Susanna Sent from the Museum of Modern Art.
Art and creativity are all around us, and they are there to inspire and delight all of our senses. Whether it is music, the weather, a drink that combines unexpected flavors, or just being able to experience all of these things on a daily basis, some of my greatest joy comes from living in a world where there is so much to make us happy.
